Club Bio
The Falmouth Running Club is composed of individuals and families who participate in and support running, road racing, and walking. We are based in the beach community of Falmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Most of our active members live in Falmouth and surrounding towns of the Upper Cape such as Bourne, Mashpee and Sandwich, but our membership list includes individuals from other towns of Cape Cod and the Islands, many parts of Massachusetts, and states as far away as Florida and California. Our personal goals include athletic achievement, personal satisfaction, and enjoyment. Our club seeks to encourage youth as well as adults to run and walk for competition, recreation, fitness and pleasure. Our club offers a program of race entry fee reimbursement to its active members. Our three road races have been in existence since the 1970s, and a trail race was added to the roster in 2014. They are the Seagull Six (actually 5.74 miles) held in late March/early April, the Main Street Mile held in September, the Cape Cod Marathon and Relay held in late October, and the Cape Cod Trail Race held in early to mid April. We also offer the Friday Night Five-Miler (founded in 1997), a weekly self-timed 5-mile fun run each Friday evening at 5:30 out of Town Hall Square in Falmouth. The club offers to its members a weekly coached track workout for adults, and a separate track and cross-country workout for kids, throughout the year and a summer running program for children and teens. There is a series of fun runs held at members’ homes during the winter months. The Falmouth Running Club also offers a full-service race timing service featuring a unique and widely recognized starter’s cannon. Every year the FRC is able to make substantial donations to local charities. We also help out with a number of other community volunteer projects such as a clean-up of a well-traveled local street in the spring.
