Club Bio
The Greater Springfield Harriers, Inc., is an athletic club focused on the specific sports of track and field, cross country, long distance running (particularly road races), and race walking. Founded in 1978, the club is incorporated as a not for profit organization in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is based in the Greater Springfield, Massachusetts area. The Harriers have several hundred active members, male and female, of all ages and abilities. Membership is open to all upon the payment of annual dues. The Harriers' endeavor to field competitive teams at various regional and national championships in open, masters and youth divisions. For instance, the Fast Feet Track Club is the separate youth division of the Harriers which competes regularly in the Junior Olympics and conducts organized practices. An annual awards banquet is held each year, as well as an annual meeting in January at which the membership elects a board of directors. The club is a member of the New England Association of USATF (United States of America Track and Field) the national governing body for the sports in which the Harriers are involved. The Harriers participate in most of the USATF-New England Championships and many of the USATF National Championships, as both a team and in individual, age related, categories. The Harriers are unique in that the club owns and operates Fast Feet Inc., a retail specialty store for runners. Fast Feet carries a full line of athletic shoes, apparel, and accessories for every runner and track and field athlete, and is conveniently located in two locations
