Our Mission: The mission of the NCRC is to promote and encourage running and walking. We engage in community activities including local health fairs, school groups, race expositions, and Adopt-A-Highway to publicize the benefits of running and walking. NCRC members also volunteer as pacers, course monitors, and registration at other races, such as the Tobacco Road Marathon. We donate significant portions of the proceeds from each of the club’s races to various local agencies and groups, such as The Umstead Coalition, Triangle Rails To Trails Conservancy, Team Red, White and Blue, Carolina Canines for Service, and local school track team booster clubs which advocate running, walking and hiking as a means of promoting physical and mental well-being. NCRC members come from all walks of life in all shapes and sizes. We train together, swap stories, travel to races, volunteer at races and all of those things “runners do” but more importantly, NCRC is about belonging to a community. Whether it’s training for a first 5K or completing a 100 mile Ultra for the 20th time, the common bond of running and walking creates a special family. Club Activities: “Formal” NCRC club meetings take place quarterly and feature a guest speaker. Other favorite gatherings include our Volunteer Celebration, the Thursday Social Runs at different locations monthly in April through August, plus our Annual Summer Cookout, and the fall Holiday Dinner. Come join us for a run or a laugh. And be sure to let us know what you think. Really – we want to know!
